Recruitment agencies have been around for a long time - one could argue they've been around since the Egyptians, Romans and Imperial China first started recruiting for their armies when they started to specify the type of citizen they wanted to 'join up".
Indeed, if you wanted to join the Roman Army then the recruitment criteria was short and (not so) sweet - luckily we don't recruit to those standards these days!
It does prove the point though - setting recruitment guidelines has been an essential part of talent acquisition since... well ... forever!
There are many benefits to partnering with a great specialist recruiter - here are just some of the things they can do for you.
Essentially, a recruiter who specialises in a niche (such as ecommerce or digital marketing) can provide a highly skilled boost to your recruitment efforts, meaning you end up (ideally) with the right candidate in the role, at the right time and at a fair salary.
That's lovely... but what can they really do...?
Recruiters... good recruiters... don't just 'fill a gap'. They will invest in you and your company and help you to hire the very best person (or team) to enable your long-term business success.

Each client and candidate's 'problem' is unique, but it is a recruiters job to understand it fully and find solutions that provide mutual satisfaction for all party's.
There are fantastic opportunities open to people who want them and good agencies are able to connect the very best talent with the right employer through experienced and skilled staff and strong networks.
In the past few months, there has been an uptick in the jobs market - in fact, the digital jobs marketplace has exploded and is moving incredibly fast.
A recruiter who knows how the market is working at any given time will have a greater understanding of the speed at which recruitment needs to happen, as well as any package expectations.
Utilising this expertise will ensure that your company is seen as being competitive in the hiring marketplace.
Recruiting can be costly.
Sure it's not cheap to hire a recruiter (nor should it be), but not partnering with a specialist agent on niche roles, where you don't have enough expertise to really sort the wheat from the chaff yourself, can be just as costly.
You could hire the wrong person - this will cost you in terms of your time, but also in terms of onboarding, training and potentially firing... only to have to go about the whole process again.
Or, you could lose the right person by misreading the market, being too slow to communicate or offer, or underestimating salary.
